Resale chic galore

With L.A.’s fashion lovers unloading more posh designer garb at consignment shops, now’s the time to snag that Fendi Spy bag or Chanel cardigan you’ve been coveting -- at a fraction of its original price.
Below are some of the best resale outposts in town -- may the fashion force be with you.
The Address
This stalwart, packed-to-the-rafters shop (owner Maureen Clavin helped pioneer the idea of designer resale in the 1970s) carries everything from Sass & Bide jeans and James Perse T-shirts to red-carpet gowns from Armani, Gucci and Prada -- consigned by well-heeled locals and young starlets, including Kim Kardashian.
1116 Wilshire Blvd., Santa Monica, (310) 394-1406
Catwalk
Vintage and resale shop Catwalk isn’t on everyone’s radar (its owners aren’t big on promotion), but it’s one of the best places to forage for special, unexpected pieces such as Victorian-era petticoats and current-season Ungaro.
459 N. Fairfax Ave., Los Angeles, (323) 951-9255
Clothes Heaven
The secret is out on this small, well-edited shop. For 25 years it’s been selling high-end designer gear -- with an emphasis on dressy looks -- culled from Pasadena’s social set. Current offerings include party frocks from Marni, Derek Lam and Phillip Lim, and suits from Escada and Gucci.
111 E. Union St., Pasadena, (626) 440-0929
Decades and Decadestwo
Located on top of each other, this power duo is the best one-stop in town for designer vintage and resale fashion. Decades sells true vintage -- classic Hermes bags, Halston and Balmain gowns -- and Decadestwo carries designer pieces from the last 10 years (a $16,000 Gucci jacket that walked in last week is tagged at $8,000).
Decades: 8214 1/2 Melrose Ave., Los Angeles, (323) 655-0223; Decades two: 8214 Melrose Ave. (323) 655-1960
