A handy-facts guide for renters
Apartment renters seeking information about rental issues — such as finding a unit or moving out of one — can find it in a new consumer-education guide distributed by the California Apartment Assn.
Titled “Renting — A User Manual,” the 16-page brochure offers information for new and established renters about finding an apartment of the right size and price; lease and deposit legalities; apartment inspections; obligations of renters and owners; and timelines for moving out.
Additionally, the brochures — available in English and Spanish — include listings of state and local housing agencies that address renter questions and concerns, and a glossary of rental-agreement terms.
Copies of the guide are available from association members, who distribute them with rental applications, or at https://www.caanet.org . Click on “residents.”
