THE BEST WAY TO THE CANADIAN ROCKIES
From LAX, Alaska, Air Canada, WestJet and United offer nonstop service to Vancouver, and Delta, Alaska and United offer connecting service (change of plane). Restricted one-way fares begin at $138. From Calgary to LAX, WestJet and Air Canada offer nonstop service, and Delta, United, Air Canada and US Airways offer connecting service. Restricted one-way fares begin at $200.
Travelers usually fly into Vancouver or Calgary. Some itineraries start in Vancouver and loop back. Airport transfers are included in most Rocky Mountaineer packages.
The Rocky Mountaineer trips across western Canada come in a variety of lengths and service levels, known as RedLeaf, SilverLeaf and GoldLeaf. Meal options, dome cars and luggage handling vary according to the plan. Dome cars are included only in SilverLeaf and GoldLeaf service. The Vancouver-Banff trip we took included hotels in Vancouver, Kamloops and Banff, with complimentary bus service from Banff to the Calgary Airport. The season runs from April to October. Prices begin at $944.
