2008 in cartoons

Last year served up an election for the ages, but otherwise, what a year to remember to forget. As we take stock of our losses, seek closure on foreclosures and ring in ’09 sipping pink-slip champagne, let’s toast year-in-rebuke images from editorial cartoonists with drinks all ‘round.
A supersized Hurricane for Ed Stein’s graphic bailout map. An Adam and Eve (OK, Steve) for Tom Toles and his free-range thinking. Such a tempting menu for Jim Borgman: An Old-Fashioned and an Alaskan Iced Tea? Maybe just a Barracuda on the rocks? Foxy Lady? Ignorance Is Bliss? (Anything but a Foreign Affair.) For Hillary/horse race coverage, make mine a Kentucky Colonel. Finally, cheers to Nate Beeler’s history-making Barack Obama -- serve him up either a Dream Cocktail or a Coolman Martini. What the heck, bring both; ’09 looks like a tough one.
