The Los Angeles Police Department’s downtown headquarters was determined safe Thursday night after a suspicious envelope was investigated on the property, according to tweets from the department.
Hazmat personnel responded to the headquarters at 1st and Main streets about 8 p.m., according to the first tweet.
The envelope was filled with a “powdery substance,” according to a second tweet. The hazmat unit found that the envelope was not a threat, police said.
