Demonstrators in Oakland smash cars, set one on fire on Auto Row

Demonstrators in Oakland on Friday night spray-painted vehicles, broke storefront and car windows, and set a vehicle on fire on Auto Row during an “Oakland to Baltimore” march protesting the death of Freddie Gray, who died of a severed spine sustained while in the custody of Baltimore police.
Images published by KGO-TV showed the windows of a Wells Fargo and a restaurant broken. The San Francisco Chronicle reported that protesters had set a trash can on fire and tossed bottles into buildings while yelling, “Baltimore, we got your back!”
The vandalism began about 9 p.m., after hundreds held a peaceful rally at Frank H. Ogawa Plaza, the Oakland Tribune reported.
