Readers React: What the U.S. should say to the Palestinians: Sorry.

To the editor: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s claim that a Palestinian gave Adolf Hitler the idea for the Holocaust is the last straw. The irony of this claim, coming from a government that has created walled-in ghettos in the West Bank and the world’s largest concentration camp in the Gaza Strip, is beyond the pale. (“Israel’s Netanyahu stirs outrage by linking Palestinian cleric to Holocaust,” Oct. 21)
Israel has had almost 70 years to create a nation based on commonly held human rights and ideals; it has failed. Israel does not deserve to be Israel. It is just another theocracy, as bad as all the others throughout history.
America needs to apologize to the Palestinians for our blind support of Israel. I apologize, as one U.S. citizen, to all Palestinians past and present.
