Football: Chaminade, Cathedral sticking with playing two quarterbacks

It’s week nine, and Chaminade and Cathedral are sticking with using two quarterbacks. So far, so good.
Chaminade, using junior Brevin White as the starter and sophomore Ryan Stevens coming off the bench, is 6-2 overall and 3-1 in the Mission League going into a game to decide second place on Friday against host Bishop Amat.
Cathedral, using senior Andrew Tovar as the starter and freshman Bryce Young coming off the bench, is 8-0 overall and 3-0 in the Angelus League going into Friday’s showdown home game against unbeaten St. Francis.
Chaminade Coach Ed Croson said he has always used two quarterbacks through the years but this season, neither White nor Stevens has been able to separate himself.
“They both do some things well and both do things they need to work on,” he said.
Tovar has 112 career touchdowns for Cathedral, including 17 this season. Young has passed for 11 touchdowns and shown he’s a future standout.
The key any time a team uses multiple quarterbacks is getting the players involved to put the team first.
