Sunset League rivals Newport Harbor and Huntingon Beach are ready to play for the Southern Section’s Southwest Division title in the first of two games today at Angel Stadium.
The Sailors (8-5) are seeking their fourth section title and first since 2005. They are also trying to avenge their 40-14 loss to Huntington Beach in early November. Newport Harbor is led by Cole Norris, who has thrown for 2,721 yards and 25 touchdowns and 1,000-yard rusher Chance Siemonsma.
The Oilers (8-5) are in search of their second section title and first since winning the “B” Division in 1935. They are led by quarterback Kai Ross and receivers Nolan Thompson and Levi Ison.
