You won’t recognize Lakers’ starting lineup in Wednesday night’s finale

The Lakers are trying to avoid history with a lineup you’d barely recognize.

A loss Wednesday to the Sacramento Kings would mean the worst season in franchise history, falling below the 1957-58 Minneapolis Lakers and their .264 winning percentage.

With so many injuries -- add Jordan Clarkson’s sprained ankle to the list -- the Lakers will go with the following starting lineup: Vander Blue, Jabari Brown, Tarik Black, Ryan Kelly and Jordan Hill.

Blue was signed two days ago and Brown was signed last month, both after spending time on the Lakers’ Development League team, the L.A. D-Fenders.

Who will be the point guard among the two? Both are considered shooting guards.

“Whoever gets the ball,” Lakers Coach Byron Scott said Wednesday after the team’s final shoot-around this season. “Whoever gets it on the rebound or on the outlet, they’re going to be the point guard.”

The Lakers (21-60) have lost nine guards to injury or retirement this season: Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash, Nick Young, Jeremy Lin, Ronnie Price, Xavier Henry, Dwight Buycks, Wayne Ellington and now Clarkson.

Clarkson’s sprained ankle was not considered overly serious but the team didn’t want to push him for the season finale.

The Lakers lost at Sacramento on Monday, 102-92. Wednesday’s rematch will be at Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles.
