Police say no charges will be filed against Ohio State’s Carlos Hyde

Ohio State’s national title hopes got a big boost Tuesday with the five words every big-time head coach loves to hear: “Charges will not be filed.”
Columbus, Ohio police announced charges would not be filed against running back Carlos Hyde in connection to a July 20 bar incident in which he was named as a person of interest in an alleged assault.
Buckeyes Coach Urban Meyer suspended Hyde pending an investigation.
“We just have to evaluate the facts,” Meyer said last week at Big Ten media day. “And once I evaluate the facts, then we’ll make some decisions.”
Meyer spent most of his news conference addressing off-field transgressions and the ongoing murder investigation of former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez, who played for Meyer at Florida.
Meyer said Ohio State has had to deal with three legal issues in the off-season.
“And it drives you insane that you have to deal with that nonsense,” Meyer said. “My concern is just I don’t to disrupt this team.”
Ohio State, 12-0 last year but ineligible for postseason play because of NCAA sanctions, begins this season as one of the national title favorites. The Buckeyes open camp this weekend in advance of their Aug. 31 opener against Buffalo.
