Imperial Beach hosts U.S. Open Sandcastle Competition

Los Angeles Times Staff Writer

24th annual U.S. Open Sandcastle Competition: Sand-building teams compete for cash prizes in this event featuring intricate creations. There also will be a street festival and live music along Seacoast Drive in Imperial Beach. Other events: a castle-building contest for youngsters called Kids ‘n’ Kastles.

When, where: Kids ‘n’ Kastles, 2 to 3:30 p.m. July 28; sandcastle open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 29 at the Imperial Beach public beach parallel to Seacoast Drive.
